Reviews and vendor posts answer a different question

As of September 2026, TrustRadius holds a top result for “best AI translation tools” with a category page built from user reviews, and Lokalise holds one with a post that ranks its own product among the tools. JotMe and Taia rank with posts of the same kind. A review count is a fact about the people who chose to write reviews. A vendor's list is a fact about the vendor. Neither is a measurement of what a translator hears when they ask an assistant.

This page is that measurement. Translators and localization leads ask the AI assistants which AI tools to use, and the assistants answer with names. The AI Recommendation Index samples those answers on a rolling 4-week window and counts how often each product is recommended. The category is AI tools for translators and localization professionals, so the prompts are the questions those people ask. Nobody on the list is asked or paid, and Orbator sells nothing in this category.

The ranking mixes product types that do different jobs. DeepL is an engine. Phrase, Lokalise, Smartling and Crowdin are translation management systems. Smartcat is a workspace and a marketplace. Taia and Translated are agencies with platforms attached. A translator asking for “the best AI translation tool” gets all of them in one answer, and the fit lines below sort them by the job.

The Index also records, for each product, the buyer question it appears in most. That record is printed after the write-ups, and it separates the ranking by job.

The write-ups return with the ranking

This category's ranking is under its publish gate or unreachable right now. The per-product write-ups render from the live payload and return with it; nothing here is filled in by hand.

Measured, not opined

What do the assistants recommend for AI translation tools? We are measuring it now.

The AI Recommendation Index is sampling buyer questions about AI translation tools. The ranking publishes here once the sample clears the publish gate; nothing is filled in by hand in the meantime.

How to read the rows

Recommendation share is the percentage of sampled answers that recommended a product or listed it as an option; the split under each product separates the two. Mentions in passing and warnings are shown and never add to share. Share by engine is the share of that engine's own answers, with the counts behind it, so a high share on a handful of runs reads as what it is. Where two rows' 95% intervals overlap, treat their order as unsettled.

Prices print only when the Index holds a sourced, dated pricing fact for the product; otherwise the row says so, in those words. Links to products follow. Nobody pays for a row, a position or a link, and claiming a row changes nothing. The sampling schedule and the prompt policy are in the methodology.

AI translation tools, the questions buyers ask

Does any vendor pay to be on this AI translation tools list?

No. The ranking is the Index's aggregation for the category, published as the API returns it. Products cannot buy a row, a position or a link, and claiming a row changes nothing. Links to products follow. Orbator sells nothing in this category.

How often does this ranking change?

The Index resamples each category on a rolling 4-week window, roughly monthly, and this page re-renders from the live payload within minutes of the data changing.

Where do the prices on this page come from?

A price prints only when the Index holds a sourced, dated pricing fact for that product. Otherwise the row says "Pricing not verified for this window." No price here is typed in by hand.
